Training Philosophy

Holistic Dog Training® Explained:

Because many behavior problems stem from physiological or environmental issues Holistic animal training focuses not only on correcting undesirable behaviors but on discovering and fixing the underlying causes of those behaviors so they never reappears!

My training philosophy...
  • Focuses exclusively on Positive Reinforcement...
  • Takes into account the whole dog emphasizing physical as well and psychological well being...
  • Incorporates the latest in scientific behavioral research ...
  • Builds a strong, lifelong relationship between animal and owner...

I also believe....

  • Education is the key to the successful training of any animal. A good trainer can train any animal regardless of breed or species!

My training methods include...

  • Relationship Building: Is your dog as responsive off leash as on? For most of us the answer is a resounding NO. The truth is your dog should have a relationship with you, not with his leash and collar. With a strong relationship, anything is possible. Learn how to build a relationship where your dog becomes an active and willing participant in his own education, without the use of force or expensive training equipment! Enjoy the freedom of being able to trust your dog off leash.
  • Clicker Training: Used properly clickers can greatly enhance your dogs learning experience. Are clickers a necessary part of positive reinforcement training? No. However many owners enjoy the extra precision of training with a clicker. More information about clicker training can be found on Karon Pryor's Website.
  • Positive Reinforcement:  Our culture is changing; the harsh traditional methods of dog training are no longer acceptable to many dog owners. Positive reinforcement based training, which has been shown in studies to be more effective than traditional training methods, allows a clearer form of communication between dog and handler. Positive reinforcement training focuses on what your dog is doing right and on getting those good behaviors to become your dogs Modus operandi, creating an upbeat, positive and fun learning environment for both human and canine students.

Once you experience professional dog training, you will wonder why you waited until now. I look forward to working with you and your dog.
